Shorn Sheep Prims is a group of women artists that live in the beautiful Flint Hills of Kansas. We hand dye wool, make and design hang tags, and create beautiful greeting cards. God's beauty surrounding us inspires us and fills us with our creativity.
We gladly take custom requests for any item. A challenge is always good!
We also have different and unique listings on ETSY as ShornSheep and ebay as shorn-sheep. Feel free to contact us for web address. or links to these stores. Our email is: firstname.lastname@example.org
Allow me to introduce ourselves:
Melba is the head primster. She runs all the web auctions, sales and customer correspondence. Melba comes with a life long interest in color and art history. She has dabbled some in various art forms but her major interests run with the tactile arts. Her hands need to be feeling and caressing wools and fibres of all sorts. She dyes all of Shorn Sheep's wools and loves to play with graphic art and color in her hang tags. Melba has collected vintage photo albums and scrap books from all of her family and uses those images extensively in her tags. Knitting and crocheting with new and vintage wools and hand spun fibres is one of her pastimes. She also runs a busy household of 4 girls, a baby boy and a loving husband.
Rachael is Melba's best friend. She captures the beauty surrounding us on film and shares God's beauty with others through her hand made photo cards. She is a mother to a young son which gives her a loving and caring eye. Rachael is talented in many genres and is drawn to the beauty and skill of each technique. She considers her photos portraits. She tries to capture the essence of the ethereal be it sunset, tree, turtle, lizard, barn or fire. Each has it's own personality that shines through in her pictures.
Amber has a younger eye and creates works with more grunge and grit. She has a gothic eye and heart and loves the darker genre. Her favorite holiday is Halloween and she creates lots of hang tags with this theme.
Akana Day is a happy go lucky sort with an eye for fashion trends and bright peppy themes. Her work is geared for the younger crowd also, but is brighter and cheerier than the darker themes that Amber likes.
Francesca is a sardonic person. She is sober and serious most of the time and loves anything preppy. Her tastes and art work is brighter but more controlled and subdued.
Courtney is the youngest girl and she helps where ever she can. Every order gets a lavender sachet with it and Courtney makes the majority of those sachets. She enjoys playing in the lavender and picking out the wool scraps and ties to make them. She tries her hand at hang tags and dyeing wool and is still learning.
Amber, Akana Day, Francesca and Courtney all help with the dyeing of the wool. They each mix some of their own colors and love to help with the marbled wool. Marbled wool is by far the most popular with these girls.
Mordecai is the baby boy and he is into everything. He loves to try on mommy's dye gloves and tries to help her whenever he can. Sweeping the house and rearranging mommy's rugs are his favorite things to do! Mordecai usually can be found with broom in hand sweeping the floors and moving the rugs to get the dirt under them (which is where the girls sweep the dirt).
Rounding out the artists is Bob. The loving husband who puts up with all of us and shares his house with yards and yards of wool and cupboards full of dye. He and Mordecai are well outnumbered but don't seem to mind all the female artists in and out of the house.
Shorn Sheep sells on Etsy, eBay and eCRATER. Each site has it's own unique items for sale.
